Speleocamp in Burgos, Spain

I am a week back from our cavingcamp in the province of Burgos (Merindades). We had a wonderful time. We visited 5 caves during our week. Our gite was located in a small village Villamartin de Sotoscueva. We were with 12 speleo's. Our first trip was to a wellknown cave in the area. It's known for it's entrancepit. On a sunny day the sunrays are shining into the cave wich gives a suberb view. The day before we looked at the weatherforecast and dicided to visit this cave. Early in the morning we arrived at the entrance. Allready a spanish group was entering the cave. We decended the P31 pit en split our group into two groups. My group planed to take pictures from the main entrancechamber. It was a unique experience.

Our second cave was also close to our gite. This was a closed cave. We met our guide early in the morning next day. This cave was special because of the animals who are living near the entrance and because of the bones of a wolf in the cave. The trip took 6 hours and after the visit we went to a small village to drink something together.

The third cave was far away about two hours drive bij car. It is a cave managed by a adventure company. The cave has three levels. The third level is the most beautyful. It has multicoloured crystals around a small lake. really superb!!

Our fourth cave is part of a big cavesystem. It has a gallery with big gypsum flowers. To get there we had to drive 45 minuten and than walk for more than one hour to the entrance of the cave. It was well worth it. After some time of caving we came to the part with the gypsum. It looked like snow. After 6 hours we were back. We quickly changed our clothes and went to a small café to drink something.

For our last trip we went to Cantabria to a well known cave which has it's entrance high in a limstone wall. The entranceporch is about 50 meter wide and high. It is very impressive. We did not find our way directly so we only visited a part of the cave which was very nice. On saturday everbody went back home again after a succesful week of caving.
